Posted on February 27th, 2017 admin No comments

Samsung has announced that it is going to reveil its next flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S8 on the coming March 29, 2017. It is expected that Galaxy S8 will make its debut at MWC 2017, but the South Korea giant decided to delay the debut because of the disastrous Galaxy Note 7.

Rumor has it that the Galaxy S8 will be a 5.8-inch handset. It is highly possible that a 6.2-inch S8 Plus will be launched together with Galaxy S8.

Both Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will allegedly feature an “infinity display”, said to cover 83% of their front panel, enabling Samsung to keep them relatively compact. They will also come with an iris-scanner, a 12-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel selfie camera, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.

The S8 and S8 Plus are also expected to be IP68 dust- and water-resistant and support wireless charging, as well as feature a new AI virtual assistant called Bixby capable of speaking up to eight different languages.

  • LG G6 Won’t Be Featuring Snapdragon 835 Because of Samsung

Posted on February 4th, 2017 admin No comments

LG’s upcoming flagship G6 won’t be featuring Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset due to the fact that Samsung bought out all the chips that there won’t be any left for the other companies, according to a recent report.

Ben Sin, a consumer tech writer for Forbes, recently criticized HTC for featuring Snapdragon 821 instead of the more powerful Snapdragon 835 in the year of 2017. But after digging deeper into that, he realized there’s a good reason for that.

    style=”display:inline-block;width:728px;height:90px”
    data-ad-client=”ca-pub-8877674303109942″
    data-ad-slot=”4123226464″>

“I’ve spoken to some industry insiders in Asia today and I must apologize to HTC, because it would appear that the 835 is out of their reach until after April, so they couldn’t have used the 835 without drastically delaying the phone,” Sin writes.

“In fact, that’s the case with almost all phones, including LG’s flagship. Yup, I have confirmed with an industry insider that the LG G6 will run on Snapdragon 821 instead of the 835 that everyone’s expecting.”

The reason why the G6 will be missing out on the Snapdragon 835 is that Samsung has first dibs on it because it’s basically the biggest customer for Qualcomm and the order from the Korean Company is so big that there won’t be enough for other vendors.

Big companies like LG, Sony and HTC won’t be able to have access to the Snapdragon 835 until after the official debut of the Galaxy S8 in the coming months.

This won’t be much of an issue for LG’s fans actually as LG’s done things like this before. The LG chose the Snapdragon 808 instead of the 810, but that’s mainly because of the concern of overheating rather than stock out.

From the latest leak we can see that the G6 would be featuring a USB-C port, headphone jack, a dual-camera arrangement and a rear-facing fingerprint sensor. And noticeably the device’s 5.7-inch display features virtually no bezel. All in all, the G6 is still a flagship worth expecting.

  • SamSung Blames Bad Battery Design And Rushed Release for Galaxy Note 7’s Catching Fire

Posted on January 23rd, 2017 admin No comments

Samsung says bad battery design and a rush to release an updated version of the Galaxy Note 7 caused some of the devices to overheat and explode.

The company released a report Sunday night in which it said that two separate battery malfunctions caused some Note 7 phones to overheat and even catch fire.

The first problem affected the first batch of Note 7 phones that launched last fall. In those phones, the battery was too large for its casing, causing some devices to overheat, according to Samsung’s report.

Recalling the initial batch of Note 7 phones, Samsung manufactured the phone with a battery from a different supplier. But Samsung was in a rush to get the new phones out, and the new battery produced by the supplier had a defect that also caused it to overheat, the report said.

Samsung ended up recalling all Note 7 phones and canceling the product altogether.Samsung says it has developed a new eight-point battery check to make sure future devices don’t suffer the same fate as the Galaxy Note 7. The test includes an X-ray of the phone and extreme testing conditions that force the battery to work harder than normal.

Now that Samsung knows what caused the problem with the Note 7, it has the unique challenge of proving that its devices can be trusted moving forward.

The company says it now has the processes in place to make sure its phones don’t overheat and catch fire again, but after months of speculation the world will have to wait for Samsung’s next device to see whether the company can follow through. The company is expected to release its next flagship phone, the Galaxy S8, this spring.

  • Samsung Officially Rolled Out Android 7.0 for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge

Posted on January 19th, 2017 admin No comments

Samsung started soak testing Android 7.0 Nougat for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge earlier this week. And now the official rollout has come to more users. And the company is also planning on rolling out Android 7.0 update to more devices within the first half of the year.

There are a lot of changes on the UI front, noticeably the Quick Panel is much cleaner now and looks a bit like what we saw on the Note 7. “Tiles have been removed from the icons in the panel’s first depth,” Samsung noted. “Icons in the second depth are organized into groups of nine, making them easier to locate. There’s also a new pop-up app mode that allows up to five pop-ups at once, in addition to split screen mode that Samsunt smartphones have had for years.

Samsung even gave the devices Performance Mode. “The newly added Performance Mode lets users optimize their smartphones to better meet their specific need by activating one of the four available modes,” Samsung said. “Optimized mode, for example, extends battery life and enhances speed, and is suitable for daily usage, while game mode provides users functions such as Game Launcher and Game Tools. Entertainment mode enhances sound and image quality and High Performance mode enables the highest quality display settings possible.”

Users should be able to receive the update now, but if the Samsung device you have isn’t unlocked, the update has to go through carriers which may cause delay of the update. There would be more updates coming for devices including Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Galaxy Tab S2 (LTE unlock), Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A8.
