• Apple is Reportedly Adding Wireless Charging to iPhone 8

Posted on February 12th, 2017 admin No comments

There’s been rumors over the past few months that the iPhone 8 would be featuring wireless charging and a recent report further confirms it.

According to KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, all three models of iPhone 8 will have wireless charging built-in.

Apple is expected to release 3 different models of iPhone 8. There would be a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch model just like with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, but it’s said that Apple’s adding a new 5.8-inch model to the iPhone product line with an OLED display.

To put wireless charging into iPhone’s body, some engineering changes are needed. Apple is said to said to use a new 3D Touch module with “additional graphite sheet lamination,” which can prevent the device from overheating, as glass casing and wireless charging are” unfavorable to thermal system operation,” Kuo says.

Here’s one part of Kuo’s report, via MacRumors:

“While we don’t expect general users to notice any difference, lamination of an additional graphite sheet is needed for better thermal control and, thus, steady operation; this is because FPCB is replaced with film, which is more sensitive to temperature change of the 3D touch sensor in OLED iPhone.

Currently we still don’t have much information about how Apple will implement the wireless charging feature. An old report from the beginning of last year claimed that Apple was working with partners in the States and Asia to develop a new wireless charging method that could be deployed on its devices within the upcoming year. If Apple succeeds in that, this year would be a great time point to push it to the market.

  • Apple’s Planning to Increase App Price in Selected Markets

Posted on January 17th, 2017 admin No comments

According to BBC this week, Apple is planning to increase the prices of apps and in-app purchases in specific markets, including India, the UK and Turkey.

“Price tiers on the App Store are set internationally on the basis of several factors, including currency eschange rates, business practices, taxes, and the cost of doing business,” Apple explained. “These factors vary from region to region and over time.”

The raise of price was the response to a weakening pound sterling against the US dollar following Brexit. In response to that move, some tech companies had chosen to raise the price of their products. One Plus 3, for instance, had its price increased shortly after launch.

    Similar pricing policy with U.S.

Assume that users are paying $0.99 for an app in the U.S., usually they would be paying $ 79p in the UK, but now with the new pricing method, they would probably be paying 99p. BBC also said that Apple has allowed publishers to adjust the pricing to a lower level to help compensate the changes.

Developers who spoke to the BBC suggested that they are probably not going to change the pricing of apps as it would mean more money out of their pocket. This is just a balancing of the system.

  • Google Drive can now back up iPhones and makes Android switching easier

Posted on December 15th, 2016 admin No comments

Google has just updated its website with the guidance for iPhone users to make the switch from iPhone to Android. But the point here is Google adding a new feature to its iOS version Google Drive: the ability to back up data on your iOS device like contacts, calendar, and camera roll and save it in the cloud. With this neat little feature added, you can have all your stuff prepared in Google’s various apps when you want to make the switch from iPhone to Android devices like the Pixel. Data backup is being done automatically, as opposed to the old days when all those data have to be uploaded from several different apps.

This new data backup option can be found in the settings menu under “backup”. And you’d expect the backup process to be fast and efficient, but in actuality, if you’ve got a lot of stuff on your iPhone, it’s probably going to take a while. Google says that it can take several hours in some cases, so you’d better have your iPhone plugged in and keep it charged and connected to stable Wi-Fi network before you start the process. Also the app have to stay open and on screen during the process.

This is basically Google’s attempt to make it easier for iOS users to switch to Android. But that’s not what Google Drive is all about, it can do a lot of other great stuff, this new backup feature is more like a bonus from the already awesome program. Unfortunately, you can’t have your texts or music library backup with Google Drive. For that you’ll have to do some extra work, like plugging your iPhone directly into the Pixel or other android phones for data transfer. The Google Drive update doesn’t seem to be available just yet but it should be coming pretty soon.

Switching from one operating system to another could be painful, which is why a lot of people keep buying phones of the same brand. And even switching to phones under the same brand could be troublesome. Leawo iOS Data Recovery, a program that can back up and recover data types like contacts, messages, call history, notes, calendars and reminder between iOS devices, making phone switching a more pleasant experience.

  • The First Weekend’s Sales of iPhone 7 Roughly in Line with iPhone 6S

Posted on September 19th, 2016 admin No comments

According to early analytics data, the first weekend of iPhone 7 sales seems to have been on track with past iPhone launches, especially for iPhone 6s released in Sept. 2015.

The iPhone 7 achieved 1 percent adoption in Localytics tracking of iPhones, with the 7 Plus accounting for another 0.2 percent. That’s roughly equivalent to what the iPhone 6s line achieved in Sept. 2015, the only difference being greater adoption of the 6s Plus at 0.3 percent. The iPhone 6 managed 2 percent in Sept. 2014, with the 6 Plus coming in at 0.3. 2013’s iPhone 5s — which didn’t have a Plus model — hit 0.9 percent during its launch weekend.

iPhone 7 sales could be significantly higher, since its data only reflects the number of people who already have a device and are using apps. Delivery times for online preorders quickly extended into weeks or even months, an Apple took the unusual step of saying that some models wouldn’t be available at stores on launch day.

As the hottest topic this September for Apple fans, iPhone 7 is attracting more and more iPhone users to switch from an old iPhone to iPhone 7. After switching to the new devices, the main problem may be how to transfer data from old iPhone to iPhone 7. In order to solve the issue, Leawo Software rolled out a iPhone transfer software to help transfer data between two iOS devices.

  • Rumored No Longer: Apple Confirms September 7 as iPhone 7’s Announcement Date

Posted on August 29th, 2016 admin No comments

Apple has made it official that its next iPhone will be revealed to the world on September 7, the first Wednesday in September. Along with the announcement of its next iPhone, most likely called iPhone 7, it is also possible that Apple will roll out its new watch, too. The venue is once again at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, with the familiar start time of 10 a.m. PT.

iPhone fans are now expecting the iPhone 7 and 7 plus to be unveiled by CEO Tim Cook and company. The current rumor mill points to nearly identical external designs to the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, improved cameras (with a dual-lens system on the larger iPhone), and most controversially, no headphone jack.

The event would also offer the opportunity for Apple to repromote iOS 10, the update to its mobile operating system first unveiled in June. The free upgrade is expected to be rolled out to hundreds of millions of iPhones and iPads later in September.

The Apple Watch, a product that hasn’t been updated since April 2015, is also due for an upgrade. In addition to the new operating system (coming to existing watches alongside iOS 10), new fitness features including rumored GPS tracking could help position a refreshed watch as a better activity tracker.

Beyond new iPhones and wearables, Apple could also address the smart-home landscape: the launch of a dedicated Home app in iOS 10 means a bigger push for HomeKit-connected appliances and home accessories.

Apple’s line of Mac computers is also rumored for an eventual refresh including MacBook laptops with an OLED touch bar, but that’s said to be slated for later in the year.
